"It’s important that the Decommissioning sub-committee can scrutinise progress of activities carried out by the Site Licence Companies. It gives the opportunity for us to input views into decommissioning plans and provide comment on performance. Sellafield Ltd needs to demolish redundant buildings but this work must be carried out safely."
The Decommissioning sub-committee provides a forum for members of the committee to scrutinise the decommissioning activities/progress of the Site Licence Companies and the NDA’s decommissioning strategies.
Calder Hall Decommissioning

"We have already witnessed a major decommissioning project with the successful demolition of the Calder Hall cooling towers. This was an excellent example of an extremely difficult task safely carried under very challenging circumstances."
