Low Level Waste Repository Sub-Committee

The Low Level Waste Repository Sub-Committee considers all aspect of the repository site at Drigg.

At the first meeting, which was held in November 2004, the following list of topics were identified for discussion.

Transport (movements, infrastructure, effect on properties)
Name of facility
Noise and light pollution
Higher stacking proposal
Next disposal area ( bulk material handling, modular vaults, transport options, BPM)
Safety Cases/Authorisations
NDA
Future of LLW disposals especially from decommissioning
Socio-economic issues: identify and feed into process

Community Prospectus

Copeland Borough Council has produced a Community Prospectus. The document will inform the bidders for the LLWR contact of what the Community expects from them and what the Community can offer to the new operator. This has been done in agreement with the NDA.
