WCSSG Consultation on the Future of the Sellafield and Low Level Waste Sites

The consultation for Site End States/Uses is now complete. Thank you to those of you who participated either through attending the workshops in January and April or by completing the questionnaires. A report has been produced by Westlakes Scientific Consulting which details the findings of the consultation, and this has been delivered to the NDA. Click here to read it. (1Mb)

Plutonium Contaminated Materials (PCM) at Harwell and Sellafield sites

BNGSL and UKAEA are carrying out a consultation process on the preferred treatment processes for plutonium contaminated materials held at Sellafield and on PCM held at the UKAEA managed site at Harwell in Oxfordshire. Meeting to Discuss the Future of the Windscale Licensed Site

This meeting was held at Sella Park House on 29th August 2006. The meeting was convened to consider the WCSSG’s response to Dr Simper’s (NDA) letter of 4th August 2006 – "Discussion on the future of the Windscale Nuclear Licensed site". Consultation on the Future of the Sellafield Site

Responses to the first Single Issue Consultation were received from participants up to the end of January this year. A summary report has now been produced which can be read by clicking on the document title below.

DEFRA Consultation

DEFRA consulted on the long term management of solid low level radioactive waste in the UK and asked the WCSSG secretariat to alert members to this fact. The consultation document, along with forms for responding were available from the following website address:
